This page details the work I've done and am currently doing on the MustangI'm the 5th owner of this car which I purchased in March of '98. I've already done a lot of work on this car which I have no photos of and done well before this website ever existed. It was a 99% complete running and driveable vehicle when purchased but was "worn and tired". It's still powered by it's original 289. I've also tracked down the history of this particular Mustang going back to the second owner. It was owned by the original owner up until 1993. Attempts to contact her have been unsuccessful so far. I have also obtained a Ford 999 and Marti report on it. The vehicle's data is as follows: VIN - 8R01C133047 8 - 1968 model year R - San Jose assembly plant 01 - 2dr hardtop C- 289 2v engine 133047 - consecutive unit number. The "1" is really only a place holder. In reality this vehicle is the 33,047 vehicle to roll off the San Jose assembly line for 1968. Door tag info: 65A - hardtop D - Acapulco Blue 2A - Black Standard Bucket Seats 23A - Scheduled for build on January 23, 1968 71 - Los Angeles Ordering District 2 - 2.79 conventional (non-locking) axle W - C-4 Automatic Additional info from the Ford 999, Marti report, and other info I've tracked down: The options ordered were automatic, whitewall tires, power steering, tinted glass, AM radio, deluxe seatbelts, and deluxe wheel covers. The car was built one day behind schedule on January 24th. The vehicle was sold on July 23, 1968 from Theodore Robins Ford in Costa Mesa, California to an Audrey Vines who lived in Costa Mesa at that time. She sold the car sometime in 1993 while living in Danbury, Connecticut. While she's no longer living at the Danbury address I have located several people by that name and wrote letters to them asking whether or not they owned this car and if so could they give me more history on it. To date I have yet to receive any responses.
